Program Notes

The Sun Spoke Peace Through The Mountains was commissioned by and written for the principal cellist of the Canyon County Symphony , Valoree Overstreet. The title was conceived from my excursions into high mountain passes in the Idaho wilderness. This work opens in G minor to the main theme, stated by the cello solo. After a statement of the A theme, the music brings us to a dazzling cadenza, followed by a beautiful secondary theme. The work recaps with the original theme.
