Description
The Standhope Ultra Challenge was a significant part of my life for many years. I created and directed this event from 2013-2025. Wildhorse Canyon is one of the biggest canyons on the race course, and is very beautiful. This work, titled “Wildhorse Canyon Adventure,” is a tribute to this beautiful area.
It opens with the main theme of the piece, before entering into one of the tributaries known as “Boulder Creek” (a very rocky trail). This fun, bouncy 6/8 theme transitions into the rocky and angular “Devil’s Bedstead” theme, which is  also a prominent mountain on the west side of the canyon. We then visit Old Hyndman which rises from the southern end of the canyon before revisiting the main theme and a recapitulation of Boulder Creek before the exciting conclusion.
