Grandma’s Coat was written as a nostalgic piece. My grandmother bought me a nice winter coat for Christmas. It was one of the last Christmas presents I received from her before she passed. She was a wonderful woman. This piece is written as a tribute to all the grandmas, grandpas, nanas, papas, or other endearing names you may have for the chronologically gifted people in your life.
Grandma’s Coat was a finalist for the 2025 American Prize in Music Composition (Wind Ensemble Division).
